Microsoft Create & Designer are creative apps that combines design automation and generative AI to help users create fast, high-quality visual content. As user needs evolved, so did the need for a robust library of social media templates—templates that could be edited by hand or automatically populated based on user prompts. My work focused on building this visual system to meet real user demands while supporting Microsoft’s growing machine learning efforts.
-Delivered a diverse social media template library with strong visual guardrails
-Enabled cross-platform layout consistency for social use cases
-Structured templates to support AI prompt understanding
-Balanced aesthetic flexibility with design integrity under user edits
-Designed templates across key categories: business, personal branding, sales, holidays, events
-Explored visual directions to match different user styles and current trends
-Ensured all assets were clean, legible, and customizable by non-designers
-Collaborated closely with content, data, and AI teams to align designs with product capabilities
-Every template in multiple formats for seamless use across major platforms
-Visually consistent while adapting layout and hierarchy for each size
-Templates stayed intuitive and legible regardless of screen or content shift
-Collaborated with design and content teams to identify and structure prompt-based use cases
-Categorized templates by intent (e.g. holiday sale vs business announcement), feeding training data for generative AI tools
-Built variation within themes to support AI adaptability and user exploration
-Designed layouts that anticipated user customization (text, imagery, color) without breaking structure
-Supported different content levels and brand tones, from minimalist to bold
-Guided internal documentation for maintaining quality at scale across styles
-Helped expand the Microsoft Create & Designer template catalog with hundreds of AI-ready templates
